Students in Knox County Schools interact with a variety of digital tools.  This table explains how these tools are used.

If a student needs a password reset, please contact the school.  The password can only be reset from the school location by adults in the school.

Aspen

Aspen is the student information system.  It houses student data such as class schedules, grades, attendance, and personal information.

Canva

Canva is a digital design suite that students may use to generate work.  Students use their standard KCS login when prompted for credentials.

Canvas

Canvas is a learning management system.  It provides online spaces where students can access materials and complete work for their classes.  Students use their standard KCS login when prompted for credentials.

Email

All high school students have an active email account.  The address format is student number@student.knoxschools.org.  EX:  s#######@student.knoxschools.org.

Students in K-8 have an email address generated for them in the same format as above.  This email address is often used as a part of a login to a digital service.  Students in elementary and middle school do NOT have a mailbox attached to their email addresses, so they cannot send or receive emails.

Google

Google is the backbone of the Chromebook.  Students log into their Google accounts when they use their Chromebooks.  Students use their standard KCS login when prompted for credentials.

They use those same credentials to access Google Drive where they can create digital documents and share them with teachers and other learners.

Mastery Connect

Mastery Connect is an assessment platform.  Teachers assign assessments either through the Mastery Connect site or within Canvas.  Students use their standard KCS login if prompted for credentials.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a video conferencing and team communication platform.  Specific students use this platform if it is necessary to access their educational experience.  Knox County Schools Virtual School is an example of a group that would use this tool.  Students use their standard KCS login when prompted for credentials.

Online Textbooks and Resources

Students may use various online textbooks and supplemental resources necessary for the curriculum.  Students use their standard KCS login when prompted for credentials.

StudentSquare

StudentSquare is a platform very similar to ParentSquare.  It is used for communication between high school staff and high school students.  This tool is not available for K-8 students.  Students use their standard KCS login when prompted for credentials.

Other

Individual schools may purchase additional digital tools to use at their location.  If information is needed about a tool that is not on this list, please contact your school.
