Screen Sharing Permissions

Staff Instructions & Walkthrough — macOS 14+
KCS Information Technology
Overview

When using apps like Microsoft Teams or Zoom, macOS requires that you manually grant permission to share your screen content. KCS IT has configured your Mac to allow you to enable these settings without an administrator password.

ℹ️ Tech Note: Apple's privacy restrictions prevent us from automating the "Allow" button. You must perform these steps once for each communication app you use.
Enabling Permissions
1
Open System Settings

Click the Apple Menu () in the top-left corner and select System Settings.

2
Privacy & Security

Select Privacy & Security in the sidebar, then scroll down and click on Screen Recording.

3
Toggle the App

Locate your app (e.g. Teams) and switch the toggle to ON. If prompted, select Quit & Reopen.

⚠️ Privacy Notifications: You will see a purple icon in your menu bar and a notification stating "Someone is viewing your screen" while sharing. This is a standard Apple security reminder.
Troubleshooting
